Under the Old Regime, St. Benedict Church was both "college" and "parochial". As such, it had two main altars; the altar college was in the choir, while the parish altar stood up at the back of the southern nave.

The church was closed in 1790, returned to worship in 1795, sold in 1797, made again for worship in 1800 and sold in 1812. She served in a flour trade, and in 1831 a theater, "Theater Hall of Fame ".
